Our Debut Album, THE DESLONDES, Out June 9th


We are very, very excited to officially announce the release of our debut album, which will be called THE DESLONDES and will feature “Fought the Blues and Won” + 11 other original songs. It will be out on CD, LP and Digital on June 9th via New West Records. This is the cover design by our soul brother Casey McAllister.

This spring, in anticipation of our debut album, we’ve released two songs on a new 45, “Fought the Blues and Won” and our cover of Joe Tex’s “Yum Yum.” The songs are also available as digital singles through iTunes and other digital retailers. Grab a copy of the 500-copy limited edition 45 on the road this spring during our “Fought the Blues” tour with Banditos and Twain. We will make the 45 available in our web shop later this spring. The Deslondes will make their debut at this year’s Newport Folk Festival on Sunday, July 27.

“The Real Deal” Video Premiered on American Songwriter

As part of American Songwriter Magazine’s feature story, “Come Around Sundown: Country Music in The Crescent City,” we’ve premiered a new video for “The Real Deal.” The video was shot by Joshua Shoemaker on Feb. 12, 2014, in Sam’s backyard in New Orleans. American Songwriter’s story (which appears in the March/April print edition) also features our friends Kate Cavazos (Sundown Songs), Hurray For The Riff Raff, Luke Winslow-King, The Long Time Goners (Pat Reedy), The Good Gollies and The Wasted Lives. The Deslondes featured in Hurray for the Riff Raff’s New Video for “St. Roch Blues”

The Deslondes’ Sam Doores, Dan Cutler and Cameron Snyder are featured in Hurray for the Riff Raff’s new video for the song “St. Roch Blues,” which was co-written by Doores and Alynda Lee Segarra. SPIN recently premiered the video, which was shot by filmmaker Joshua Shoemaker and features scenes from the New Orleans neighborhood of St. Roch. A version of the song also appears on Hurray for the Riff Raff’s new album, Small Town Heroes, out now on ATO Records.

The Deslondes (formerly Tumbleweeds) are a New Orleans-based country-soul, swamp-boogie band. In their writing and performing, they combine elements of early Stax, Sun and Atlantic records with the influence of a more raw, stripped-down sound gleaned off field recordings from Alan Lomax and Mississippi Records catalogue.
